About me
I am a Scarborough resident running to serve as your Toronto Catholic District School Board trustee for Scarborough Rouge Park and Scarborough North.
As a current TCDSB parent, I see our schools the way you do: through the eyes of a family that depends on them. I know what it means to want the best for your child, to want to be heard, and to trust that our schools will nurture both learning and character.
I am a practicing Catholic. My home parish is Our Lady of Good Health on Birchmount Road, where Mass is celebrated in Tamil. Praying and taking part in Mass in my own language gives me a profound sense of comfort, connection, and belonging. I also attend Mass at St. Joseph’s from time to time.
Faith has always been central to my family, and I am blessed to have several priests among my close relatives, including my uncle and my cousin. That foundation has shaped my faith and my commitment to the Catholic community.
Teaching has been at the heart of my working life. I hold a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Master of Arts in Tamil Literature. I teach Tamil language to elementary school students, preparing them for speeches, drama, music, and cultural events. I have also taught as an instructor at a private college in Toronto, where I helped improve program curriculum and supported students.
My work in the community extends beyond the classroom. I have given oral health talks to seniors’ and women’s groups. I have served as a radio host, master of ceremonies, and guest speaker. I also volunteer with the Association for Tolkappiyam - Canada, organizing competitions and seminars.
Over the years, I have shared my ideas through seminar presentations and speeches, and my articles have appeared in many literary publications. These experiences taught me to listen, to communicate clearly, and to bring people together.

My priorities for Ward 8 students, families, and schools.
Many students face high levels of stress and anxiety due to academic pressures, social changes, and an uncertain future. To address this, it is essential to improve safe school environments and peer interactions, and to provide easily accessible counselling services, including early intervention.
Quality learning fosters critical thinking, curiosity, and real-world problem-solving skills. It happens when teachers use adaptive methods to support different learning styles. High-quality education creates a safe, inclusive environment that builds student confidence and prepares students to navigate a rapidly changing world.
In a world shaped by artificial intelligence, students need traditional faith, human values, wisdom, and strong critical thinking to guide their learning and growth. I will encourage them.
Every student should feel respected, valued, and included in their school community, while maintaining the Catholic identity of our schools.
Oversee the Board’s budget and senior leadership, monitor educational outcomes, ensure public accountability, and bring the voices of students, families, staff, and taxpayers to the Board table.

Trustees are elected at the same time as Toronto City Council.
Advance voting, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at two locations in every city ward.
